P1030343.JPGSONNY FACES THE FIRING SQUAD?

Another milestone in the construction of Rachel’s house has been reached: the basement walls are in place. Next stop: the concrete slab/floor of the basement/garage. Since the waste water of the house will pass through pipes under the slab, we have to have those inspected before we can pour the slab concrete. The whole inspection/approval things seems rather nannyish to me. Apparently the modern homeowner cannot be trusted to glue his pipes together correctly and the government inspector stands ready to protect us from ourselves. What nonsense!

Inspection scheduled for tomorrow morning – at least I hope. When the inspector didn’t come by the end of the day last Tuesday, Rachel called and learned that I had mistakenly scheduled him for Wednesday. I think I got it right this time. Tomorrow is Monday, right?

Good ol’ Leonard was with us through the tearing down of the concrete forms. I doubt we could have done it without him. Unlike the government-imposed pseudo help, Leonard’s help was valuable and FREE!

We are ahead of schedule and under budget. May our good fortune continue to the end!
